We source our fruit from four Washington AVAs (American Viticultural Areas) Horse Heaven Hills, Rattlesnake Hills, Yakima Valley and the Columbia Gorge (which straddles the border of Washington and Oregon). All of our grapes come from within a 150 mile radius!
We compost 100% of our grape stems, skins and seeds back into our soils.
Our plastic storage tanks (IBCs) come from a recycling operation that only purchases tanks that have transferred neutral spirits like vodka, so if there’s any leaching to be done it will have taken place in the first use!
Through a little bit of research we discovered that purchasing our bottles from a company in China that uses 30% recycled glass and ships them via container, is less impactful than buying American glass that’s trucked from where it’s made.
We love our amphibian friends! As an indicator species of environmental health and quality, they have been likened to the canary in the coal mine. Seeing lots of these guys confirms that we are doing a good job of maintaining a healthy ecosystem around our winery.
